Sustainability and Secondhand Fashion at Rowan Earth Day Event

This Earth Day, Wednesday, April 22, an event organized by students on Rowan University’s main campus in Glassboro will celebrate the idea of sustainability with a pop-up event centered around second-hand fashions.

The mini-festival is being organized by Hunter Finer, a Rowan student who works as a college ambassador for the e-commerce app Depop, an online marketplace for buying and selling clothing.

The company touts its commitment to having an environmental impact by promoting the idea of reducing the demand for new clothing by promoting and facilitating a circular fashion market.

The event takes place from noon to 5 p.m. on Earth Day at Rowan’s skatepark and will feature a wide array of vintage clothing vendors, skateboarding, and live music.

Finer said they’re expecting as many as  800 students to attend and said “the goal is to create something that feels community driven and accessible, not just another campus event.”

Hunter – Thank you very much for bringing this back to campus! You got me started on Depop last year. I appreciate it as much as my wallet and the environment do!
