In just its second season, the growing biweekly market was voted the number one market in New Jersey in the America’s Farmers Market Celebration contest from American Farmland Trust. The number of votes they received also secured them the number five spot in the nation for the young local market.
After the win, the organization, which is an off-shoot of Main Street Woodbury, posted the following message on Facebook:
“In 2024, a team of dedicated volunteers partnered with the Neighborhood Preservation Program (NPP) to answer one simple question: What can we do to make Woodbury better? Together, they dreamed up a farmers market — a place where neighbors could gather, farmers could share their harvest, and community could thrive. Countless hours went into making that dream a reality: drafting rules and regulations, marking out vendor spaces, contacting farmers and artisans, and managing the paperwork needed for liability, food safety, and health certificates. The process was often tedious, but the volunteers knew the reward would be worth it. Because Woodbury is more than meets the eye. It’s a city full of heart, filled with residents who wanted a place to call their own. While our market may not be the largest, in just two short years — with the guidance of Main Street Woodbury, Incorporated and the foundation laid by NPP and its incredible volunteers — the Woodbury Farmers Market has captured the love and support of our community. Over 3,000 people cast their votes, and we were honored to be named #1 Farmers Market in New Jersey and #5 in the Nation by American Farmland Trust. This market has grown by leaps and bounds, and the Farmers Market Committee is so excited for the future. We hope this tradition continues to bring joy, connection, and fresh local food to our community for years to come. See you in 2026!”
Congratulations to the market, its vendors, their volunteers, and everyone involved on the well–deserved win! We can’t wait to see where you GROW from here!
