Stage Productions and Anniversary Celebrations, Coming to Gloucester County Theaters

In Gloucester County, the big news in the theater world is the 100-year anniversary of Pitman’s Broadway Theatre. Check out our look at that celebration along with the stage productions coming soon.

Broadway Theatre of Pitman

There seems to always be something going on at the Broadway Theatre in Pitman, and this year, their 100th in existence, seems particularly special.

They’ll make the anniversary official later this year, June 5-7, with multiple performances of “A Century on Stage: 100 Years in the Making,” a special tribute show.

“Join us as we honor the Broadway Theatre of Pitman’s remarkable legacy and look ahead to its future,” reads the show’s description on its website. “More than a performance, this centennial celebration is a heartfelt tribute to a community landmark that has inspired, entertained, and brought people together for a century.”

Prior to that event, the theater will also play host to dozens of shows, from touring comedians and musical acts to children’s theater productions, plus two shows from their mainstage company.

First up on that front is “Anastasia,” running March 6-29, followed by “A Bronx Tale, The Musical,” April 24- May 17.

Grand Theatre

Another landmark anniversary is taking place this year at the Grand Theatre in Williamstown, where the resident troupe, The Road Company, is celebrating their 50th anniversary.

They’ll be holding events to commemorate that milestone later in the fall, while their mainstage productions continue to roll on.

They recently wrapped on “Groundhog Day, The Musical,” and this month they’ll turn their attention to a production of August Wilson’s “Fences,” March 12-22. That show will be followed by “Jesus Christ Superstar,” coming to their stage April 23-May 9.

Rowan University

If you’re not a Rowan University student, you may not immediately think of the school as a place to go and see a show. But every year, the university in Glassboro plays host to a number of entertainment options and cultural performances.

Each season, their own Department of Theatre & Dance puts out a slate of shows that are open to the general public.

Coming soon from the student company at Rowan is a performance of Rogers & Hammerstein’s “Cinderella,” running April 10-12.
