South Jersey Local has teamed up with some incredible writers from around the region to help fill the pages in each of our monthly issues with compelling stories. Each of these contributing partners has already been doing an amazing job covering their particular interest areas and creating engaging online content while amassing huge followings on social media.
The goal for these partnerships is for South Jersey Local to expand the contributors’ reach and perhaps bring their work to new readers in print, while they help to spread the word about our new venture through their platforms.
We’ll be bringing you much more about them all individually soon and we can’t wait to share their work with you. Please check them out, and visit their websites and social media pages linked below!
Marilyn Johnson – South Jersey Food Scene
Marilyn Johnson is a professional writer and marketer who has been writing about the regional restaurant scene for nearly two decades. She covers the latest happenings in the local food business with articles on her highly-regarded website South Jersey Food Scene. Her Facebook group of the same name now has over 180,000 followers and has become the go-to destination for information, discussion and recommendations about food in South Jersey. Be sure to check out all her great coverage and look for her soon in South Jersey Local.
Dave O’Sullivan – South Jersey Glory Days
Dave O’Sullivan, or “Sully” as he’s known, has been writing about sports for print and online news outlets for nearly 30 years, with the majority of that time spent covering South Jersey. About 10 years ago he decided to go out on his own, creating South Jersey Glory Days to continue that mission of providing professional-quality coverage of local high school sports. You can follow his sports coverage and connect with him on the South Jersey Glory Days Facebook page as well. We can’t wait to share the stories he has to tell about South Jersey’s hard-working student athletes.
Joey Contino – Wildwood Video Archive
Joey Contino’s website Wildwood Video Archive is a bit of a misnomer. He doesn’t just cover Wildwood and he doesn’t only make videos. To be sure, he does both of those things very well. During his 10 years running the site, he’s been nominated for an Emmy Award and has recently reached 100,000 subscribers on Youtube, but he does a lot more too. Through his videos, photos and written articles, Joey covers news and events all over the South Jersey Shore region and beyond. His sincere love for the area is apparent and his energy is infectious. So be sure to follow all of his outlets and connect with him on Facebook as well. He’s going to be a truly valuable and fun addition to our team at South Jersey Local.
Mark Matthews – 42 Freeway
Last, but certainly not least, we present Mark Matthews of 42 Freeway. Like Joey above, the full scope of Mark’s online content output isn’t completely captured by his site’s name. Started initially to cover the area around Gloucester Township, in Camden County, and Deptford and Washington Townships in Gloucester County, he named the site after the busy thoroughfare that slices through those communities. Since that beginning, 42 Freeway has become a treasured presence in South Jersey. Mark has expanded his coverage, which tends to focus on business news and development projects, to towns all over the region. Mark’s tireless coverage of that beat is truly unmatched by anyone. If you want to know who’s bringing what business when and where in South Jersey, 42 Freeway is the place to find out. Follow Mark and his coverage on Facebook as well.
