SOUTH JERSEY EDUCATION COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT: Helen Fort Middle School’s Ms. Stephanie Harmon and Ms. Jeanne Camp

Our new print issue will feature “Goodbye Summer, Hello School!” content about the end of the summer season and gearing up for back to school in our communities.

For that reason, we’ve decided to put a strong focus on our Community Spotlight category of “Education.” Schools are truly the backbone of so many communities. So without further ado, let’s shine a light on our teachers, administrators, support staff and parent volunteers who selflessly dedicate themselves to our kids!

Ms. Harmon and Ms. Camp were nominated by Helen Fort Principal Mr. Aaron Eyler. Here is what he had to say about this dynamic duo!

Jeanne Camp and Stephanie Harmon are dynamic 7th grade Science teachers at Helen Fort Middle School whose passion for teaching goes far beyond the classroom. With an extraordinary ability to spark curiosity and excitement, they bring science to life through hands-on, creative lessons that challenge students to think critically and explore the world around them. This summer, they took their dedication a step further by attending a national Math and Science conference focused on preparing students for careers in STEM—bringing back fresh, innovative ideas to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers. Outside of the classroom, their impact is just as strong. Ms. Harmon serves as our Cheerleading Coach, spreading school spirit and building confidence in her athletes. Ms. Camp leads both the National Junior Honor Society and the Student Ambassador program, mentoring students to become leaders in our school and community. Together, they embody what it means to be educators who teach the whole child.

Jeanne Camp and Stephanie Harmon deserve to be highlighted not only for their outstanding teaching but also for the unwavering dedication they show to their students every day. They make science fun, meaningful, and accessible—transforming what can be an intimidating subject into one of the most exciting parts of a student’s day. Their classrooms are buzzing with energy, curiosity, and engagement, driven by their belief that all students are capable of greatness when given the right tools and encouragement. Beyond academics, they invest countless hours after school building relationships, running clubs, coaching, and mentoring students. Their presence helps shape the culture of Helen Fort, fostering a supportive, spirited environment where students feel seen, heard, and inspired. Highlighting them is not just about celebrating two excellent teachers—it’s about honoring the kind of dedication that transforms a school from good to great.

“Ms. Camp and Ms. Harmon are at the forefront of science instruction—relentless in their commitment to students, innovative in their teaching, and inspiring in every sense of the word. Helen Fort is a better place because of them,” said Ms. Chiarella, Math and Science Supervisor at Helen Fort.
