For nearly 70 years, Heritage’s Dairy Stores have been setting the example on how to run a convenience store chain, while still keeping a local feel.
Their first store opened in Westville in 1957 as a way for the Heritage family to find a customer base for their dairy products at a time when home delivery was becoming outdated.
They now have more than 30 stores in South Jersey, with the majority located in Gloucester and Camden counties.
If you’re used to certain larger chain convenience operations, stepping into a Heritage’s may feel like a bit of a throwback.
You can still order freshly-sliced lunchmeat and you place orders for those cold cuts and prepared foods face to face with a deli worker instead of at a touch screen. Their excellent sandwiches, whether a made-to-order hoagie or heri-egg breakfast sandwich, are made on local Liscio’s bakery breads.
In our opinion, shopping at Heritage’s is a quintessential South Jersey experience, their approach to a quick service deli is something worth supporting, and if you have never tried their ice cream, trust us, you definitely should.
