West Collingswood residents saddled up to an evening of fire spinners, line dancing, live music and even mechanical bull rides on Saturday at the West Collingswood Revitalization Committee’s 2nd Annual Wild West Fundraiser. The event took place at the Collingswood Ballroom on the White Horse Pike in Collingswood.
The WCRC, in partnership with the Collingswood Civic Collective and the Borough of Collingswood hosts this and other fundraisers to help strengthen and beautify their community.
“Very soon, you will see colorful, permanent seating areas adorned by public art throughout the business district on Collings Avenue just in time for nicer weather,” committee chair Kelly McGinnis said in her opening remarks.
“We will continue to host neighborhood clean-ups, maintain pollinator gardens, and advocate for pedestrian and cyclist safety,” McGinnis said. “We will also be partnering with the Borough to host two seasonal festivals this year on the West side as a way to draw more people to our local businesses.”
During the event, the WCRC team also announced their new Block Captain program and thanked the countless volunteers and sponsors that made their programs, and the night’s celebration, such a success.
They gave special recognition to another neighboring town organization, Reimagine Runnemeade and one of their founders, J. Kenneth Leap, not only for his mentorship and generosity, but also for providing the fire-spinning entertainment of the evening.
Guests were treated to several performances, including Ken’s fire-spinning, live dancers teaching line dancing as well as a mechanical bull riding experience. Town residents ate, drank and danced the night away.
“We like having a good old time down on the West Side!” McGinnis said.
