A little while back, we noticed on Facebook a post from the LOCAL Bar & Kitchen in Gibbstown celebrating one of their staff members – a server named Mikayla.
We thought how perfect is this? A bar named the LOCAL, our paper is named the Local! We are looking to celebrate outstanding people in various walks of life with our Community Spotlight section and here is a restaurant doing exactly that for their staff on their own Facebook page!
So we reached out. We asked co-owner Giovanna Giumarello if we could shine our Community Spotlight on Mikayla as well, and here we are!
“She comes to work ready to hustle, never complains, picks up shifts when needed, and is loved by customers and staff alike. I love our banter—whether it’s about hair, nails, or our latest obsession: wreaths. Life really does come full circle, and I’m so grateful it brought Mikayla to LOCAL,” Giumarello wrote of Mikayla.
“When I asked her why she likes working at LOCAL, she said, ‘I love working at Local because of the people, not just the customers but the staff too! Everyone feels like family around here and was so welcoming the minute I began working here. I can’t wait to keeping meeting new locals!’ ”
