Captain Tom’s Corner: Inshore and Offshore, the Fish Keep Biting in Cape May

Pictured above is Mike Hammer with a golden tilefish he caught aboard The Fishin’ Fever. Check out our latest fishing report from Capt. Daffin and friends!

Hey folks!

Some great fishing continues down here in Cape May county.

Inshore, the drum fish are still biting with a vengeance, especially while we approach this full moon cycle on June 11. Fishing close to the new and full moons prove best for the bottom dwelling fish as they use the hard running tides to feed effectively.

In the ocean, seabass are still abundant with big knuckleheads filling anglers creels.

A great showing of early season flounder are also biting on local reef sites. We’ve seen fish to 24 inches this past week on our trips.

John “Tuna John” Riccardi with a 30-pound golden tilefish he caught on the Fishin’ Fever.

Lastly, we’ve been running to local canyons offshore loading up on golden and blue line tilefish – cool fish to catch and even better eating!

Dinnertime!

Tight lines.

Captain Bob Cope of Full Ahead Sport Fishing also had great success to report from Cape May.

Well things are really heating up here in Cape May with the inshore fishery.

The drum are still biting in the Delaware Bay. Sea bass fishing continues to be really good with lots of small fish in the mix. If you work hard enough you will catch your limit of keepers by the end of the day.

This crew aboard the Full Ahead display their day’s catch.

The fluke have started to cooperate on the ocean with the local reefs making it a worthwhile adventure.

This will just continue to get better as the water temps are rising nicely.

Finally the weather has decided to cooperate and this all adds up to some good fishing ahead
