SOUTH JERSEY EDUCATION COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT: Delran Intermediate’s Sabrina Simon

Our new print issue features “Goodbye Summer, Hello School!” content about the end of the summer season and gearing up for back to school in our communities.

For that reason, we’ve decided to put a strong focus on our Community Spotlight category of “Education.” Schools are truly the backbone of so many communities. So without further ado, let’s shine a light on our teachers, administrators, support staff and parent volunteers who selflessly dedicate themselves to our kids!

Sabrina was nominated by Delran Intermediate Principal Kimberly Hickson. Here is what she had to say about this awesome teacher!

The most impactful teachers are the ones who are able to tap into student interests, provide a nurturing environment with high expectations and who have a belief that students will leave their classrooms in June demonstrating growth, confidence and memorable experiences.

Ms. Sabrina Simon is one of those educators. A Special Education Teacher at the Delran Intermediate School, Ms. Simon is the embodiment of the adage “A great teacher takes a hand, opens a mind, and touches a heart”.

An 11 year veteran in education, Ms. Simon has been an integral part of the Delran community. In addition to teaching in the town where she resides, Ms. Simon is active in the Delran Elementary PTO, and secondary PTA. She has also volunteered with the Delran High School Marching Band. Ms. Simon also shares her extensive knowledge on the blog simplyspecialed.com, where she writes a twice monthly column with ideas on a variety of topics such as lesson planning, how to establish classroom centers and ways to set up a classroom to support small and whole group learning.

As the recent Delran Intermediate Teacher of the Year, Ms. Simon serves as an exemplary role model for teachers everywhere!
