Monica Amadio joined Stockton University’s School of Business in 2021 after more than two decades in business and technology education. She is program chair of the new Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship degree launching this fall at Stockton. The program is designed for students who want to start their own ventures or bring innovation into established organizations.
This degree responds to a growing demand from students and employers for graduates who can create value and lead in changing markets. Students work on real projects from day one. In the first course, they pitch business ideas, form teams and start testing solutions.
Amadio says the best part of teaching Entrepreneurship is the authentic learning that happens when students identify real problems and develop solutions for actual customers. Students’ ideas shape each course, and many have started businesses or side hustles. Expert faculty guide them as they develop concepts, test feasibility and move toward implementation and scale. Students gain confidence in their ability to design and lead ventures or apply entrepreneurial thinking in their careers.
Through partnerships with community organizations, industry mentors, South Jersey business incubators and the program’s Advisory Board, students gain direct experience with customers and investors. Some will have the opportunity to earn funding in local pitch competitions. Others will secure internships with startups and growth companies.
Amadio says what sets this program apart is Stockton’s commitment to interdisciplinary education. In addition to business-specific courses, students will explore a wide range of subjects, ensuring a well-rounded education that fosters adaptability and critical thinking.
