Letter from the Executive Director
Dear Friends,
Back in 2016, my son Rob invented the name BookSmiles as I brainstormed a name to call my garage-based passion project. Several years later, he offered to organize and coordinate our first 5K Run/Walk, which raised $11,000. This year, we’re aiming to raise $40,000!
Please register for the 3rd annual BookSmiles 5K Run/1 Mile Walk For Literacy that happens Sunday, September 14th at Cooper River Park. We will have thousands of kid’s books on site to give away, and we’ll even have grown-up books for sale – $3 dollars each!
Start a team and raise $400 like Emily Moore, a Loring Fleming Elementary School librarian who regularly visits the book bank to get books for her students and teachers. Or sign yourself up with family and friends. Be among the first to hear an exciting announcement we’ll make about expanding the book bank so that we can one day distribute 4 million books each year.To Literacy!
