SOUTH JERSEY EDUCATION COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT: Helen Fort Middle School’s Ms. Jennifer Bennett

Our new print issue will feature “Goodbye Summer, Hello School!” content about the end of the summer season and gearing up for back to school in our communities.

For that reason, we’ve decided to put a strong focus on our Community Spotlight category of “Education.” Schools are truly the backbone of so many communities. So without further ado, let’s shine a light on our teachers, administrators, support staff and parent volunteers who selflessly dedicate themselves to our kids!

Ms. Bennett was nominated by Helen Fort Principal Mr. Aaron Eyler. Here is what he had to say about this outstanding teacher!

Ms. Jennifer Bennett is a deeply respected Special Education teacher at Helen Fort Middle School who sets the bar for excellence in inclusive instruction. With a remarkable ability to translate data into meaningful growth, she supports students across placements—from resource room to in-class support settings. Known for her high expectations and consistent structure, Ms. Bennett fosters an environment where students thrive both academically and emotionally. Her classroom is built on rigor, empathy, and clarity, allowing even the most challenged learners to rise to the occasion. She’s not only a trusted instructor but also a mentor to new teachers, a leader in PLC meetings, and a vital member of the I&RS team. Her dedication extends beyond the classroom, where she actively participates in events, supports school spirit initiatives, and tutors students in need.

Why They Should be Highlighted: Ms. Bennett deserves to be highlighted for her unwavering belief in every student’s potential and her tireless efforts to help them achieve it. She creates a classroom culture rooted in structure and compassion—where expectations are high, support is constant, and every student feels respected and capable. Whether leading small groups, co-teaching with precision, or offering one-on-one support to students unable to attend school, Ms. Bennett ensures that no learner is left behind. Her influence reaches beyond instruction—she boosts morale as part of the Sunshine Club, brings laughter to school spirit events, and helps lead initiatives that improve the HFMS experience for all. The admiration of her students, especially those facing the greatest hurdles, is a powerful testament to her impact. Ms. Bennett is not just a role model for students—she’s a model educator for all of us.

“Ms. Bennett is the kind of educator who transforms lives. Her structure, compassion, and relentless belief in students sets the gold standard for what teaching should be at Helen Fort,” said Ms. Kimberly Brucale, Supervisor of Special Education Instruction.
