Our new print issue features our summer “Down the Shore” content about the beach towns, communities, businesses and people that help South Jersey put the state on the map for the best beaches, resorts, events and attractions in the country.
For that reason, we’ve decided to turn our Community Spotlight feature over to the special category of “Beach Patrol” for a while. So without further ado, let’s shine a light on our beaches and those who keep them safe!
John and Marie were nominated by their mom, Hope Antonelli. Here is what the super proud mom had to say about her kids.
“John Antonelli is a 23 year old guard who has been serving on Wildwood Beach Patrol for 7 years. He is an English/Special Education teacher in Eldred NY. He is also a wrestling coach! He was an exemplary wrestler and became the first Shadow Wrestler in NY state history to reach over 100 wins. He is currently in his last year of Master’s Classes at SUNY New Paltz. He is grateful for all of the instruction and guidance that he has received from Wildwood Beach Patrol. He has also guarded at Gold’s Gym in Newburgh NY.”

“Marie Antonelli is a 21 year old guard who has been serving Wildwood Beach Patrol with her older brother John for 5 years. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree at Marist University, and is continuing for dual certifications and her Master’s Degree in Education/Science/ and Special Education. She is an exemplary middle distance runner who still holds two school records at Marlboro High School in NY. She is also a Track and Field Coach. She guards at Marist University during the school year. Marie was the first female (and youngest) ever to get rookie of the year! She too is grateful for all that the WBP has given her!”

Thank you for keeping the Wildwood beaches safe John and Marie and best of luck in all of your future endeavors!
