South Jersey Local

Sharing Stories. Making Connections. Building Community.

About

The South Jersey Local is a new monthly print newspaper striving to tell the stories of the people and places that make our community such a great place to live.

When?

You’ll soon find us at many of your favorite eateries, watering holes and retail stores around the South Jersey area.

Where and What?

Our coverage and distribution area is in Burlington County and points south in Camden, Gloucester, Cumberland, Salem, Atlantic, and Cape May counties.

Our editorial focus is on human interest stories, features and profiles of the people and organizations upon which our community is built. We focus on arts and entertainment, dining, nature and agriculture, education, local businesses, civic organizations, local history, and adult and youth sports and recreation.

Who?

This project has been in the works for a long time and is coming to you from a couple of longtime South Jersey residents – Danielle and Joe D’Aquila. Joe is a former newspaper man looking to get back into the print game, and along with his administratively-minded (much) better half Danielle, they finally decided to take the leap. The Gloucester County couple may even get their teenage kids involved to make it a true family affair.

Along with our in-house editorial and administrative staff, we’ll be bringing the paper together each month with the help of local online content creators, who have signed on as partners in this project. Please visit our Partners page to learn more and be on the lookout for some great new stories about and by our contributors.

How?

Some of the editorial features we’re excited to bring you include our Out & About and Community Spotlight sections.

For the Out & About pages, we’ll visit area nightlife hot spots and events to get some photos to include in each issue. So make sure to look your best when you’re hitting the town. You may see us out there and then see yourself in print!

The Community Spotlight features will be a way to highlight the people in our towns who go above and beyond and who deserve some recognition. We’re going to be counting on you, our readers, to help us out with this part by nominating the people you think are worthy of the honor. We’ll be looking to shine the spotlight on people in seven categories – First Responders, Food Service, Volunteers, Beverage Service, Civil Servants, Health Care Workers, and Educators.

Be on the lookout for more information on these recurring features and reach out to us to let us know if you have someone or something in mind that would fit these categories or with information on an news or upcoming events.

Why?

You may be asking yourself – why a print newspaper? In an age of digital overload, we cherish the break from the screens and the physical, tactile experience provided by a well-crafted newspaper and we think there are enough people out there who feel the same way.

Our paper will be free to read, and we’ll be relying on the relationships we make with local advertisers who still value the connection that can be made through a quality, locally-focused print product. If you have a business that serves the South Jersey area and want to give us a try, please check out our Advertise page and give us a call.
