Today’s Community Spotlight in our Volunteer category is on Otley Heulings, Jr., who coaches with the Millville Girls Softball League.
Heulings was born and raised in Millville, and worked for 25 years for the N.J. Department of Corrections, before retiring as a lieutenant.
He started coaching softball when he was 19 and continued for about 12 years. Heulings took a break for about 10 years, until his granddaughter, 11-year-old Sophia, was ready to start playing. When a second granddaughter, 7-year-old Landry, decided to follow in her big sister’s footsteps, he stepped up to coach her team too.
