Captain Tom’s Corner: Weather Finally Breaking Means Tog Over The Rail

Check out our latest fishing report from Captain Tom Daffin and friends!

Hey Everyone! Finally the weather allowed us to untie from the dock and run three trips this past week.

As we were hoping, the tog were ready and eager to eat! We had easy boat limits to 11 pounds, with many keeper-sized fish released, and tons of shorts to keep the rods bending.

Another happy fisherman with his catch aboard Capt. Tom Daffin’s Fishin’ Fever.

We had high-hook anglers nearing 30 keeper-sized fish, only retaining their legal limit. We are looking forward to continued great tog fishing and to everything to come for the rest of our season.

Don’t forget to get your trips booked for either big black drum, tasty sea bass, or monster tilefish coming up in May.

Til next time.

Tight lines.

Captain Bob Cope of Full Ahead Sport Fishing found similar success.

We finally got away from the dock on Friday and it was game on!

Lots of bites, lots of fish, and enough keepers to send everyone home with a bag of fresh tog for a couple of meals.

We didn’t connect on any big fish, but the action was as good as it could be. We fished on the inshore reefs all day, and as  always some spots were much better than others. It didn’t seem to matter what bait you put in the water – green crabs and  shrimp worked as well as did the white leggers.

The amount of life for this early in April is very promising. We will be back at it on Wednesday and I expect it to just get better!
